The Commons & Property

The Henry George Foundation of Great Britain is pleased to extend an invitation to a meeting to consider

THE COMMONS & PROPERTY

WITH

DAVID TRIGGS

In this talk David will explore the importance of private and public property in relation to the unifying influence of The Commons where he defines The Commons as things that need to be freely available to people if they are to fully participate in and contribute to their community. He will discuss natural and manmade commons and how the way that a community regards them both reflects and influences the values they hold and the extent to which the highest ends of a human life may be realised. He will illustrate how Henry George’s understanding of the need for societies to respect the Natural Laws corresponds with the teachings of His Holiness Shantanand Saraswati when he refers to Sanatan Dharma as being behaviour that is in harmony with the eternal unity and is not bound by space or time or divisions of the human race but is for the human race as a whole.
